My ‘To do’ and Shopping list

OMG! Such a huge list, that I don’t know where to start! This is what it looks like so far, with development temporarily arrested due to other family commitments…

Apart from completing the engine – which will not be easy or cheap – I do have Engine and carb and a (dead?) Bosch dynamo, still need a magneto for the spark!

Engine at front with a centrifugal clutch and possibly a simple differential for the drive to the rear

I still have to get started on the chassis, running gear and bodywork at some stage. 3D drawings in process.

For the chassis I will need to purchase appropriate steel, of course, in plate and tube, both square and round.

Then that will need welding and bolting up. Chassis rails will be welded and some cross-members, too, the rest, like bulkhead/bodywork supports and triangulation will be bolted on.

Wheel hubs I have already, I will have to spoke them up and reinforce them, tyres need to be decided upon and purchased.

Still undecided regarding brakes. I definitely want both rear wheels driving and both braked. I might even go for front brakes, but at this stage I’m not thinking about that.

It will also have rear suspension similar to the Austin and the front axle will be built similarly to the Austin racer – a tubular setup and definitely well damped! I have the axle tube already and have bought MG Midget leaf springs to be used front and back after modification.

Bodywork will be mostly aluminium, depending on my skills and whether I have access to or can buy a small English wheel. Upholsteryleather, of cours,
